SUMMER 2007 COACH COMMENTS

Kelvin Ramsey:
No wasted time here. I have worked several years and I am impressed by the quality of the people who direct these camps. I had the young players this year and it was wonderful to see the way they worked, how they took instruction, how when they got knocked down they were on their feet and kept on playing. I have learned so much over the years and it is always an honor to be here. Not only is the basketball the best but this can be a life altering experience.

Tonye Davis:
One of the keys is that you have manageable steps to teach complex moves to show kids that all the skills are conquerable. When I work these camps it makes me set my standards higher for myself and the students I coach. It is important for students to see themselves getting better year after year and that is one thing that is accomplished by coming back to camp each summer. It keeps them positive about their game. This system of self coaching / evaluation has great carry over value into all aspects of their lives and for as long as they live.

Keith Martin:
Being here gave me insight into how to break down and teach offensive skills in a more organized way. The inspirational talks are great for kids to hear. It would take several camps for students to completely understand all that is being taught. What is interesting is that all of these skills are important for every level of play. Some are emphasized more depending on the age level. The master teachers along with the demonstrators made it possible for all to see exactly what the skills should look like.

Dalinda Clarkson:
This is how you should teach basketball! There is so much to learn which makes it important for students to come back each summer. This camp increases the understanding of the Bible for the students and the real life stories inspire them. The leadership was really helpful to the coaching staff and greatly encouraged the students. I use these systems with my team.

Brett Rusher:
As a coach and a parent, "The game or the way to play" that my daughter has learned in DEBB camps have helped her compete in older age groups. The extra in this camp is the students learn better how to be classy people as the Christian aspect sets it apart.  It is priceless after the first year to see that my kids have improved immensely each time I bring them back.

Jessica Pappas:
Once a student has been to this camp they have a great foundation to work from. Before they came most didn't know where to start. You keep building with this system. Great improvement was evident as the week progressed.

Jimmy Fine:
After coaching basketball for 30 years I felt that I knew everything about basketball. After coaching / attending this camp I realized that I had just scratched the surface.

Kelly Sinclair:
I use this program with my team at school. The environment here is very positive which is a major factor in allowing students to learn. Then learning how to coach themselves is very beneficial after they leave camp and for the long haul. Coming back to camp each year is very important as it allows for skills to be reinforced, to pick up what was not retained and comprehension improves as you get older. The director of this camp was strong in all aspects of leadership.
